Here is a photo of S's room. Pamela spent many hours planning and painting the squares on the wall - thanks to paintable caulk they turned out perfect!

Welcome Sofia Bronwyn (Translation)

Here is a translation of Jorge's first posting to our blog - he wanted to make sure that his family in Mexico could share in the experience, and just found the time (in between caring for me and the kids) to translate it. Enjoy!
Dear Family & Friends:
We are extremely happy to share with you this special moment in our lives. Finally, our littlest angel decided that September 2, 2008 was the perfect day to join our family, and she was right. Our Beautiful S is now with us!!

It all started yesterday, September 1, 2008 Labor Day, how appropriate. Pamela decided she was not waiting any longer and that she would do anything to bring little S into this world. So, among the many things she did around the house to get the contractions going, she decided to jump on the trampoline, Can you believe that! Yes, she jumped for about 15 minutes in the company of A & V, they had a ball!

Later after dinner she decided to go walking, and picked the perfect spot to do it, The Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. Nonna, the kids and I tried to keep up with Pamela, but most of the time she chose to go up the stairs rather than go the easier way around. By 9 O’clock I was done! When we got home Pamela mentioned to me that she had been having contractions every 5-8 minutes, they were not strong but consistent. We decided to go to bed and try to sleep while paying attention to her contraction in case the time came during the night. She said later that she was able to sleep the whole night, which was a blessing.

At around 5:45 AM she woke up with stronger contractions and started timing them, they were about 4 minutes apart. By 6:15 she woke me up and said: I think it is now time. Half way asleep I got up and immediately started going thru all the plans we had in my head. When I got to the part of who was going to watch the kids I realized Nonna was here with us, and I felt comforted. At around 6:20 AM we told Nonna we were leaving, got in the car and drove to the hospital. During the trip I could tell the contractions were getting harder and closer together, and I was worried.

By 6:50 AM we were at the hospital. They got her settled in the receiving room, checked vitals and her status. They told us she was perfectly well, at a 7 and completely effaced. Pamela said: So, does that buy me a ticket to stay? And the nurse said: Absolutely! Shortly after, they moved us to the delivery room and in a matter of 2 hours Pamela was at a 9! Pamela's visiting teacher, M, who also happens to be a doula, arrived about an hour after we got there, and was incredibly helpful to Pamela and me. Pamela had decided to use the “Hypnobirthing” method for this birth, and M, having delivered her own children using the method and also having studied as a doula, volunteered to help. She helped Pamela relax like nothing I have seen before. She would say something like, “I will count to ten, and on every number you will relax ten times more” and I could literally see how during her contractions M would begin to count and Pamela would start to become limp more and more until she was completely loose and relaxed. Her transition period was managed this way. The whole thing was pretty unbelievable.

At 9:35 AM, after 4 good pushes S was born. She weighed 7.1 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long. Both, baby and mommy are doing great.

We are incredibly grateful to our Heavenly Father for the many blessings we received, for the strength and the protection he gave to Pamela and S during the whole pregnancy, and for finding us worthy to be her parents. We will love her and protect her for the rest of our lives. Thank you for your prayers. We love you all!

Bienvenida de Sofia Bronwyn

Querida Familia:
